Welcome to DerbyStance.com

I created Derbystance.com to both document my journey as a roller derby player, and as a place to write down all the things that I wish I would have known when I started playing derby! Thank you for coming to take a look at the site!

Roller Derby is a full contact sport played on roller skates. Each game (or bout) consists of two 30 minute halves which are comprised of 2 minute jams.

At any given time there are up to 10 players on the track. This is made up of four blockers on each team and one jammer on each team.

There are no balls, pucks, nets, or hoops in the game of roller derby. Instead, points are scored when the jammer makes laps around the opposing team's blockers.
